Q1. Short introduction about Cheryl Wee

Hey guys I'm Cheryl Wee, an intrapreneur as the founder of Cheryl W. and an actress.
In my passion for people our personal growth, I light up at things, projects, opportunities to help grow and connect positively. It's this contagious energy that we bounce of each other that pushes us forward to become a better version of ourselves everyday, for the better of the team and mankind.
Above all, on a random note I have a love for food! Because food is a universal language that knows no barriers.

Q2. What made you started your very own brand, Cheryl W Wellness and Weight Management?

While I was a young actress, I thought I wouldn't get sucked into the media standards of being thin because all my years as a singer or even in pageants I stood strong. But before I knew it, I fell for it while I was staying in Taiwan's entertainment industry. Caught in an eating disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, amenorrhea and worst of all I did all...

10 traits of super persuasive people

    June 17, 2017

    |

    Renee Tan

Have you encountered a super persuasive person who's able to convince you on almost anything? You tend to like their ideas and they get you to like them.

It is a fallacy to assume that like-ability happens only to the lucky few who are good looking or who are social butterflies. In fact, being like-able can be under your control as it's all about your EQ.

UCLA conducted a study in which subjects rated 500 adjectives based on their significance to like-ability. The top adjectives were sincerity, transparency and capacity for understanding (empathy). These adjectives describe people who are high in EQ. They are more likely to be socially-apt than physically attractive.

Let's uncover the traits of these highly emotionally intelligent people that make them super persuasive:

    1. Pleasers

Persuasive people tend to go the extra mile to make other people happy, as they know this wins people over in the long run.

    2. Assertive and confident

Persuasive people tend to establish their ideas assertively an...

Top 5 Challenges Salespeople Face Because They Don't Understand Their Customers

    May 9, 2017

    |

    Renee Tan

A survey has been conductedthat determines the top 5 challenges that salespeople face today in closing sales. They are namely:

    1. Long decision timeline

    2. Competing with a lower-priced competitor

    3. Too many competitors

    4. Little interest from customers about product/service

    5. Getting through to the decision makers

Very often than not, salespeople are so focused on pitching the sale and closing the deal, they fail to read and understand their consumers. This leads to them lengthening their own sales cycle and not be able to tell if prospects are giving them a false objection. Thus it is vital to understand consumer behaviour to implement more effective sales and marketing strategies.

    What is consumer behaviour?

Consumer behaviour is the psychology of marketing that studies the way people purchase, use, evaluate and dispose services and products. Understanding consumer behaviour helps one determine why consumers choose a particular product or service over others. Consumers seek and purchase...

CNY Preparation Tips for Busy People

    Spring Cleaning

If you have not cleared your old items and cleaned the house, you still have 10 days before CNY. Before the New Year comes, it is one of the Chinese New Year customs to spring clean the entire house. The practical reason is to de-clutter your house, so it's more presentable to your guests when they visit. To some, it is to get rid off bad luck in the house. So your last cleaning can be done during the reunion dinner before the actual day of CNY and your traditional parents will most likely not allow you to use the broom to do any sweeping to "sweep" the luck away.

Cleaning the house also means settling all unfinished business to start the year afresh: Resolve conflicts with people around you, pay off debts, complete your work, etc.

    Decorating the house

Decorate the entrance of your house and business establishments with red and gold banners with auspicious messages. Red symbolises vitality of life and happiness, while gold represents prosperity and wealt...

Five Secrets to a Successful Negotiation Anytime

    January 6, 2017

    |

    Renee Tan

Many people tend to avoid negotiation due to the negative connotation that it brings that relates to conflicts. However, a successful negotiation  eventually leads to a win-win situation where parties reach an agreement. You don't have to be aggressive in a negotiation to win it. Your aim is not to win and someone losses. Contribute fairly in the negotiation and you will gain more in the long run. Sounds difficult?

Fret not, here are top 5 tips to help you negotiate successfully:

     1. Have your facts ready

Get ready with a series of factual information. Conduct your research and gather as much information as you can that is relevant to the negotiation subject. And start asking yourself tough questions you think you might be bombarded with by the other parties. Gearing up yourself with facts and getting ready for the negotiation instills confidence in yourself to do well in the negotiation process.

     2. Decide what you want to achieve before negotiating

Think of what the ideal scenario i...

Meet Lim Bee Lay, the KPOP Aunty who has been an inspiration to those who are in their silver years, and also the younger generation. It is evident that the younger generation took notice of her after a recent post in Mediacock Singapore that generated more than 3,000 views!

She has been an active dance instructor and performer in CCs, donning beautiful outfits which she sometimes design for her students. She also organises performances for her students to gain exposure. And guess what, she's 58!

You may be wondering what's this video about. She's actually practicing her basic moves for KPOPX and is keen on competing in the next Open Category KPOP Dance Battle in 18 March 2017 at Bugis Junction Outdoor Fountain (Near Macdonald's) with her team. If only all of our parents would be young-at-heart just like Bee Lay and continue to stay fit and healthy.

She is also familiar with the use of social media and whatsapp to communicate with her peers and students, posting pictures and updates. It...

Rising Obesity Among Young Men Below 30

    September 29, 2016

    |

    Renee Tan

Over a span of about 10 years, there's a 3-fold increase in the number of men below 30 who are obese, from 4.5% to 15.4% of the population between 18-29 years old. Compared to women, there's only a 1.5% increase during the same period.

What caused the drastic increase in obesity rate in young men?

Could it be due to lifestyle changes, stress, eating habits, declining fitness, injuries, etc. What do you think?

Professionals Retrenched in Their 20s: What Can They Do?

    September 22, 2016

    |

    Renee Tan

Just had a casual conversation with an attendee yesterday during a course and we discussed about the retrenchment rate in Singapore. He commented that retrenchment is more common amongst the 40s and above. But today, I chanced upon this article "Under 30 and retrenched: What’s it like to be laid off from your first job?" - Channel News Asia.

I was a little taken aback as the article interviewed young professionals in their 20s getting axed from their first job. Definitely not a pleasant experience. Those who managed to find a job may have to take on contract positions or a pay cut.

The Ministry of Manpower has revealed in the recent statistics that the unemployment rate among degree holders is at its highest level as of June since 2009.

The Corporate Hairdo - Long, medium or short

    September 20, 2016

    |

    Renee Tan

In a span of 2 weeks, I've got a taste of what's like to have long, medium and short hair. But most importantly, I must look professional enough as I have to meet clients and conduct training sessions. It wouldn't work out if I've got a rainbow colored hair, (though it's an "In thing" with youngsters) will it? So I'm sharing with you my experience as a professional trainer and consultant, on what it's like to don a long, medium, and short hair that's suitable for work.

    Long Hair

This was how I looked when I had long hair, and there are advantages and disadvantages to it.

Advantages: You could tie up your hair, bun up, or do a half-pin at the fringe, and you will still look professional. There are so many ways you could style up a long hair.

Disadvantages: Feel warm in a tropical region like Singapore. Difficult to manage, it can get "dry" if you don't do hair treatment often enough, takes a long time to dry after shampooing, feels heavy, and you'll experience frequent hair fall. Don'...
